Why do I want to learn Japanese...?

I chose to study Japanese because I wanted to learn another East Asian language. I’ve spent many years learning Chinese (… eight years of Saturday school), so I was interested in the linguistic similarities and differences between the two. I also have Japanese relatives who do not speak Chinese or English, so I’m also learning the language for a practical reason. So far, I think that it’s been fun! It’s been a long time since I’ve learned a language from scratch, so I definitely have to spend time every day working on it, but overall I feel like I’m making good progress and am excited to continue!!!
